I bought this product as my first coffee grinder. I decided to "graduate" from using ground coffee to now grinding it myself. I read alllllll about coffee grinders and learned that hand grinders can give you a consistent grind size which is key. So I decided that because I only need one cup of coffee a day, a hand grinder would work for me. Then I determined that the manual coffee grinders, with the ceramic burr, and stainless steel finish, yada yada are probably all the same, even though some are $15 and some are $40+. So I took my chances and bought this one. Oh, I also knew from a youtube video that one thing that can go wrong is easily fixed. And that is that as you use the grinder, whether over time or even just grinding for one cup, the knob you twist to define your grind size can slowly get looser and looser. To fix this, you can find a nut that's the correct size and add it to the outside of the knob so it stays in place. I haven't had to do this yet, even though mine may be loosening. So yeah, 10/10 would recommend! As for how hard it is to use, I was honestly surprised that it's kinda hard. It's a little workout in the morning, which is honestly nice. And it's not the cranking that's hard, it's the holding it steady and still as you crank. If only I could set it in a clamp or cup holder or something and then just crank it, that would make it easier.Very good ? ?This is the perfect grinder to accompany a single serve french press. It is easily adjustable so you can dial in your grind coarseness to fit your brew method.I received the product without a handle. So it is completely useless. I am moving in a couple of weeks and wanted it for my new home as I will not have electricity but now I don’t have time to return this one, get a refund and replace it before I leave. It also feels very flimsy and not very sturdy. I definitely do not recommend this product. This grinder is trash. Good luck trying to do a medium to coarse grind. The only thing it's good for is a fine grind. It binds up and the handle spinsSince 2015 when my Keurig gave up the ghost (pump stopped working after about 5 years), I decided to look for alternatives to purchasing pods and discovered an Aeropress. I’ve been using one ever since. Coupled with a Cuisinart Electric Burr grinder, I’ve enjoyed years of fresh ground coffee but as of late the grinders burrs are showing its age and has always been a mess to work with per the hopper and fines that get all over the counter top. It also never ground as fine as I would have liked, i.e. espresso grind. I could have done the aluminum foil shim trick as others have done to bring the burrs closer together but I was never that motivated to do so. Proper cleaning of the machine was always a PITA as well.I’ve toyed with the idea if purchasing a manual grinder for a long time but couldn’t justify paying 30+ bucks for one let alone buy another electric messy grinder. I watched some video reviews of this triple tree unit and came to the same conclusion as a youtube reviewer did that they are all basically being made by the same company with slight variation and of course, name.I am specifically speaking about the javapresse-like grinders. Per reviews, I asked my girlfriend to add to her Amazon order, the Triple Tree .4 cup jar as it looked to be the most user friendly and ergonomic. My Review of this unit after several months of use.Pro’s:-Inexpensive, and a competitive price to other manual grinders-Easy to hold in the hand and crank, no need to grind on a counter or table. I usually watch tv or a video on the computer while I grind.-Easy to fill (I actually use the funnel that the Aeropress came with to fill the hopper). I am able to hold the funnel and hopper with one hand and coffee bag in the other. No mess.-Stainless steel construction and quality ceramic burrs. Once dialed in I am getting a consistent fine espresso grind that is making a great cup of coffee. (I grind to about ¾ of the viewing window per cup of coffee. One full hopper for me produces 2 cups of coffee)-Ease of teardown for cleaning and produces very little wasted coffee when you separate the ground coffee container from the hopper.Cons:-Since it is a formed metal tube, it can be a little “slippery” to hold the top and bottom portions together while grinding. I haven’t had the unit come apart yet on me but it is just a slight pressure fit holding the 2 halves together. To get a better grip on the grinder I cut a couple of pieces of old bike rubber innertube I had laying around and put it on the top and bottom parts of the grinder. Not beautiful, but helps. Maybe in the future I’ll 3d print better grips.-The paper instructions are a little misleading. The instructions state that it was supposed to include a washer, mine did not. The picture however on Amazon’s webpage does not show said washer included. It also stated that it would include the “improoved plastic piece”. Mine did not come with the updated part. I have the older style. It appears to be working fine without both. If I run into issue, I’ll probably 3d print my own improoved piece in the future, LOL.In conclusion, I think this was a very good purchase. The unit is ergonomic and takes up very little space. A manual grinder is slow ( takes me about 8 minutes to grind per cup of coffee) but produces a very nice result. I personally wouldn’t buy the larger glass style ones if the grind output is the same, i.e. if the diameter of the grinder is similar in the smaller unit as it would be in the larger ones. I only own this one so I can’t confirm if it is the same. YMMV.
